A course on the history, cultures and civilisations of ancient Greece. We shall be covering Minoan Crete, Mycenae, Homeric Greece, Sparta, Thebes, Athens, the Peloponnesian and the Persian Wars, with special attention paid to the rise of maritime empire with the birth of the trireme. We end with Macedonia, Alexander, and close union with Persia
